By following a few simple tips you can keep your tree fresh and fragrant all through the Christmas period. When you take your tree home if you have the equipment, cut 1cm off the base of the trunk and stand outdoors in a container of water until you are ready to decorate.
“Your real tree is a natural product which has been cared by us for six to ten years before coming into your home”
Before bringing the tree into your home, if possible cut off another 1cm from the base of the trunk. This ensures that the tree stem is open and can take up water. Immediately put your tree in the stand and fill it with fresh water. If you allow the water level to drop below the fresh cut, a new seal will form over the stem.
Display as far away from a heat source as possible, not next to a radiator or a roaring open fire or wood burner.
Remember, trees are very thirsty! They may drink between 0.5 and 2 litres every day. Always use a water holding stand and check daily filling with fresh water as required.
